clay pigeonclay pigeon is the songwriting project of Canadian musician James Clayton. It is also a bandand collection of friends based in Montreal who make music together. Their sophomore album, Cash Out in Kid Gloves, is built around the tension between human performance and synthetic intervention. Recorded between a residency in Woburn, Quebec, a nineteenth-century heritage home in Peterborough, Ontario, and additional sessions in Montreal, the band focused on capturing the imperfections of musicians playing together live, then deliberately disrupted those performances with processing, edits, and obvious post production. As technology increasingly blurs the line betweenwhat's human and machine made, Cash Out in Kid Gloves explores that uncertainty by wrapping analt-country/folk rock band in synthetic layers. Constructed from forgotten demos dating back to 2017, this album represents a collection of lasting ideas and the urge to create music.
