ABOUT THIS EVENT
The Paul Gavin Sextet – Plays the Music of Art Blakey and Cannonball Adderley Rhythm master Paul Gavin brings his sextet to New Tampa Jazz Nights for a spirited tribute to two giants of 1950s and 1960s jazz: Art Blakey and Cannonball Adderley. Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers helped define the hard bop era, while Cannonball Adderley became a jazz legend through his groundbreaking work with Miles Davis and his own innovative groups of the 1950s and 1960s. Gavin is no stranger to this repertoire. He has honored Blakey’s music many times before, including performances at the Sarasota Jazz Festival and earlier Tampa Jazz Club shows in Ybor City. Get ready to feel the beat as Paul Gavin drives the groove.
